Argentina vs South Africa - Women 1st June 2014

The current World Cup champions Argentina take on South Africa in the last game of day 2 of the Rabobank Women's Hockey World Cup 2014. After failing to take advantage of three penalty corners in a row, Argentina scored from their fourth with a powerful shot from Silvina D'Elia in the 26th minute. She doubled her tally from another corner 2 minutes later to put Argentina up 2-0. Argentina kept South Africa at bay for the rest of the half to go into the break with the two goal lead. Argentina scored from yet another penalty corner to make it 3-0; Noel Barrionuevo scoring after a neat set play. The goal to make it 4-0 came from a shot from Delfina Merino that beat the keeper at her near post in the 61st minute. South Africa responded immediately and Tarryn Bright made it 4-1 seconds after the restart, but it was not enough to stop Argentina from starting their defence of the World Cup title with a win.
