3rd day of the Rabobank Hockey World Cup and its Australia v. Spain from Men's Pool A. The first half and it was advantage Australia when they converted an early chance supplied by Turner to Tim Deavin to put 1-0 Australia. It was pretty much Australia at this point on the attack and were later awarded a Penalty Stroke when an Australian Penalty Corner was superbly saved by Quico Cortes, but the ball hit off the body of Bosco Perez-Pla, and referee, after Spain asked for a referral, awarded a Penalty Stroke. Captain Mark Knowles was on hand to convert it. Australia continued their attack and was again awarded another Penalty Stroke when the ball came off the foot of Ramon Alegre, and Spain was unable to use their Video Referral as it was used for the previous penalty stroke. It was soon 3-0 to Australia when a Penalty Corner was converted in and it was Kieran Govers, who was the man that drag-flicked the ball in the net before the break. 2nd Half, and scores remained as it was but Australia managed to conjure up a couple of chance and came very close when Graham Tuner received the ball in the D but his shot went wide of the post. Australia had another chance to extend their lead when Jacob Whetton took the ball round the keeper but the angle was too tight and his shot went wide. Spain did create some chances after the break but it would Australia taking the point's home, 3-0.
