England vs Spain Men 31st May

"The third men's game of day one of the 2014 Rabobank Hockey World Cup saw England take on Spain. England made a fantastic start and opened the scoring through Alistair Brogdon's blistering strike in just the 5th minute. England came close to a second in the 15th minute when Barry Middleton's shot hit the post, and then managed to survive a few defensive lapses to reach half time with their 1-0 lead intact. Spain didn't waste time in levelling the scores and Eduard Tabau scored from a speculative long shot in the 37th minute which England contested with an unsuccessful video referral. The game began to swing back and forth rapidly and England again hit the post, followed immediately by Spain's David Alegre hitting the sideboard after a mazy run. Neither team were able to break the deadlock in the tightly contested second half and had to settle for 1 point each.
