"Thursday's Pool A action of the Rabobank Men's Hockey World Cup came to a close with India taking on Spain. After a tense and physical start, India was awarded a penalty stroke after Mandeep Singh was tripped and Rupinder Singh squeezed the stroke past the keeper in the 28th minute. Roc Oliva equalised for Spain a minute before half time, finally beating the Indian keeper who had made a triple save before the goal. The physicality of both teams continued to show during the second half which resulted in few clear cut chances. India had the better opportunities as the clock ran down but both teams had to settle for the 1-1 draw in the end.
