"Round 4 of Pool A saw Japan looking for their first win up against New Zealand at the 2014 Rabobank Women's Hockey World Cup. New Zealand got off to the perfect start and went up 1-0 in the 5th minute through a Sophie Cocks deflection from a penalty corner. The Black Sticks held onto the lead to reach the break one goal up. The second half got off to a flyer with New Zealand scoring twice within three minutes of the restart. Firstly, Anita Punt scored from a penalty corner high into the net and then Katie Glynn made it 3-0 less than a minute later after a scramble in the circle. Yuri Nagai pulled a goal back for Japan in the 51st minute after her team-mate won a bully. There was no way back for Japan though and Anita Punt scored her second of the game in the 68th minute to give New Zealand the 4-1 win.
