Day 7, game 4 in group A saw bottom of the group Belgium take on third placed Korea and with the top two sides, Australia and Netherlands, facing each other in the evening , this looked an opportune match for Korea to make up some ground on the two unbeaten leaders. True to form, it was the bottom of the group side Belgium who fell behind when Eunbi Cheon, faced with a one on one, expertly rounded the goalkeeper and finished from an acute angle. However, the Belgians showed resilience and equalised through Jill Boon who followed up when her initial shot was parried back out to her by the keeper, swivelling around and firing in powerfully in with her back faced to goal. The second half started in bizarre fashion when Belgium arrived out late on to the pitch. Korea kicked off before all the Belgium players were out on to the pitch fully and almost punished them but the Belgians managed to get enough players on the pitch to deal with the attack and saved the eventual shot when it eventually arrived. Having survived this potential setback it was the Red Panthers who went ahead through Gerniers but the lead lasted just under ten minutes as the Koreans equalised with 49 minutes gone after a loose pass was pounced upon and expertly finish by Park. Five minutes later Korea made their superiority tell as Park struck again and the win was sealed five minutes later with the best goal of the game - a swift counter attack finished off clinically from a tight angle by Eunbi Cheon.
