Korea vs South Africa - Men 6 June 2014

"The second Men's Pool B game of Friday saw Korea up against South Africa in the 2014 Rabobank Hockey World Cup. Both teams came into the game having lost their first two matches of the tournament, and the first half was a cautious affair with no clear cut chances. Korea went close with a shot from Kim Seong-kyu that just went wide of the post, but neither team could break the deadlock and halftime arrived with the score 0-0. Julian Hykes almost gave South Africa the lead in the 39th minute when he broke away but fluffed his lines when he was one-on-one with the keeper and shot wide. The two hard-working, disciplined teams did not look like scoring and when Korea did score from a penalty corner it was disallowed after the South Africans asked for a video referral. Goalkeeper Lee Myung-ho then made three excellent saves in quick succession to keep Korea in the game. Neither side were able to score and the game finished as the first 0-0 tie of the 2014 World Cup.
