England took on Malaysia in Group A as they looked to continue their unbeaten run and heap more misery on the winless Malaysians and it didn't take long for England to take lead with a great team goal. Great vision from Jackson saw him pick out Middleton outside the box with a lovely cross field ball, a clever reverse ball found Gleghorne deep inside the Malaysia box and a clever finish from the England player gave the goal keeper no chance. Malaysia had to withstand heavy pressure from England for the rest of the first half and were lucky not to concede second. England continued to pile on the pressure in the second half but their frustration continued, with Middelton and Brogdon going closest. But with only a slender advantage England started looking a bit vulnerable to a goal that would cruelly deny them the win but with five minutes to go they made their dominance tell. A penalty corner set up Jackson on the edge of the box who sealed the win with a powerful effort into the roof of the net, putting England temporarily at the top of Group A.
