Germany were close to scoring when Elleen Hoffman made some room in the D to unleash a shot, but Lise-Marle Deetlefts superb interception kept Germany out. However it was a matter of time for one team to break the deadlock and it was Germany who would that when Jana Teschke executed some brilliant skill to pass the ball into the D and Marle Mavers showed brilliant calm and composure to tap the ball in the direction of the goal. At the break, it was advantage Germany 1-0. 2nd Half, and although South Africa looked like they could level the score, it was Germany who grabbed the next goal. From a Penalty Corner, the ball was deflected out but hit in again and Kristina Hillman was on hand to scramble the ball in the net, 2-0 Germany. However it looked game on when South Africa grabbed a goal, after a superb run by Bernadette Cotson, who made her way into the D and her pass was met by Shelley Russell, who tapped the ball into the net, 2-1.
