South Africa vs Netherlands - Men 8 June 2014

"The Netherlands looked to solidify their semi-final place in the contest against winless and goal-less South Africa on day eight of the 2014 Rabobank Men's Hockey World Cup. In front of an incredibly loud crowd, the Netherlands only took four minutes to score the first goal of the game; Seve van Ass with the tap in at close range. It was 2-0 just six minutes later after an amazing one-two pass between Valentin Verga and Rogier Hofman and Verga slammed a shot past the keeper. The Oranje were in full force and from their first penalty corner Jeroen Hertzberger sent a shot between the keeper's legs to put his nation 3-0 ahead. South Africa found themselves trailing 4-0 with two minutes until half time when Robbert Kemperman finished from a pass by Constantijn Jonker. The goals kept coming in the second half and the Netherlands were 5-0 up within three minutes of the restart with Robbert Kemperman blasting a powerful shot in for his second of the night. Three minutes later it was 6-0 thanks to Billy Bakker's great turn and shot low into the corner of the goal. South Africa got a consolation goal in the 62nd minute from a penalty corner through Justin Reid-Ross, but two minutes later the Dutch restored the six goal difference and made it 7-1 with Sander Baart getting on the score sheet with a great solo effort. With the emphatic win, the Netherlands went to the top of Pool B ahead of New Zealand. The two nations go head-to-head to decide top place on Tuesday night.
