As the host country, the Netherlands’ place in the tournament is guaranteed. The other participating countries need to qualify during 2013. The continental champions (Europe, Pan-America, Asia, Oceania and Africa) are each entitled to one World Championship place. The remaining World Championship tickets go to countries that end in the highest places in the semi-finals of the Hockey World League, played in Rotterdam, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and London. Those in positions one to three of all Hockey World League semi-finals may enter the World Championship. Should one of these subsequently become continental champion, their qualification place is made available to other Hockey World League participants. Which countries have been placed to compete in the Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014 will be known at the end of 2013.
